The wonderful island of Storön is located in Vänern, just outside Otterbäcken. Storön served as a holiday resort for the employees at the Bofors company for about 40 years. Due to the selling of the facilities from Bofors’s side, the activities slowly decreased and during the 1990s the activities on Storön were non-existing.

Currently Storön is in the stage of awakening from its beauty sleep and the process of re-establishing the former holiday paradise has started.

You can find all sorts of things on Storön in order to enjoy your free time. You can take long walks in the beautiful untouched forest, take a swim from the cliffs, go for a ride in your boat or just relax and enjoy the beautiful view and the surroundings. Storön is a place for experiences and enjoyment for the whole family.

If you feel like leaving the island for a day...

The beautiful nature surrounding Gullspång and Otterbäcken, the lakes Vänern and Skagern, offer various things to do. There are hiking trails, biking trails, fishing and swiming. You can rent canoes, boats or even a rail trolley. If you have a boat you can take a trip to Sjötorp and Göta Kanal which are close by. From Otterbäcken you can get to Sjötorp and Göta Kanal by car.

Thanks to Hova Riddarvecka (Hova Jousting Tournament) and the rail trolley rides, the municiple of Gullspång is growing as a tourist spot. The area offers much more so why not take a day and explore the area on your own?
